ITEM # 6. <br />of <br />ver <br />MEMORANDUM <br />TO: Housing & Redevelopment Authority <br />FROM: Catherine Mehelich, Director of Economic Development <br />DATE: June 1, 2009 <br />SUBJECT: Review Draft 2009-2012 Economic Development Strategic Plan <br />Attachment <br />• Draft 2009-2012 Economic Development Strategic Plan <br />Background <br />On April 13, 2009 the HRA participated in a work session for the update of the Economic <br />Development Strategic Plan for years 2009-2012. The work session was facilitated by Kent <br />Eklund of Cincinnatus, Inc. Additional participants included the City Council and EDA. <br />The group identified the following 2009-2012 priority issues: <br />• Industrial Development <br />• Redevelopment & Rehabilitation <br />• Marketing <br />• Transportation <br />Issues for Discussion <br />The group developed a series of preliminary strategies, which were then incorporated into <br />the attached draft Plan by staff. For this meeting, staff requests the HRA's feedback on the <br />attached draft Plan and strategies for addressing the priority issues. An annual workplan <br />which will include specific action items will be prepared by staff and reviewed by the EDA <br />and HRA following the Strategic Plan's adoption. <br />Next Steus <br />Following is a tabletable for review and adoption of the 2009-2012 Economic Development <br />Strategic Plan: <br />• May 11 EDA review & comment on Draft Plan <br />• June 1 HRA review & comment on Draft Plan <br />• June 8 EDA & City Council consider Final Plan <br />• July 6 HRA considers Final Plan <br />
