Ji
Elk River -~-~ ~
Municipal Utilities ~
13069 Orono Parkway
Elk River, MN 55330
February 1, 2005
To: Elk River Municipal Utilities Commission
Jerry Takle
Jim Tralle
John Dietz
From: Bryan Adams
Subject: Commercial Meter Policy
phone: 763.441.2020
Fax: 763.491.8099
The Elk River community is having more multi tenant facilities being constructed both
residential and commercial. It is desirable from an installation, operating, maintenance,
and meter reading perspective, to have all of the electric meters banked on the exterior of
the building and clearly marked. Condominium complex's, do this now to a large extent,
but we have no such requirements for commercial. Staff is proposing the following
language be added to the Metering Facilities section of our Electric Rules.
In multi tenant facilities, both residential and commercial except apartment complex's
and townhomes, shall have all electric meters banked in one area on the exterior of the
building. The meter box shall be clearly and permanently marked identifying what
individual space the meter serves.
