Staff is proposing to <br />purchase the following. <br />185 CFM Ingersoll -Rand Diesel Driver Trailer Mounted Air Compressor <br />(see attached picture) <br />60# Pavement Air breaker with bits <br />45# Air Tamper <br />~0' Hose with fittings <br />Approximate cost $14,000 depending on hammer bits and air hose length <br />The 2005 budget contains a $50,000 item to initiate an aquifer storage and recovery <br />study. The concept behind Aquifer Storage and Recovery (ASR) is to treat water during <br />off peak (Oct. thru March) when we have treatment capacity and inject it back into the <br />aquifer (storage). During periods of high demand (summer months) this treated water <br />can be pulled back out of the aquifer (recovery), re-chlorinated and pumped into the <br />distribution system. The benefit is not building a water treatment facility at an <br />approximate cost of $1,000,000 fora 1000 gpm plant. The downside is we must pump <br />this water twice and chlorinate it tv`~ice at an additional cost of approximately $200/ <br />million gallons or $14,000 for 70,000,000 gallons/year. Additional $14,000/year to save <br />a $1,000,000 plant investment is a substantial savings. <br />
