• SPECIAL MEETING OF THE ELK RIVER PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION HELD AT CITY HALL WEDNESDAY, MARCH 29, 2006 Members Present: Chair Polston-Hork, Commissioners Anderson and Niziolek Members Absent: Commissioner Kuester, Paige, Peterson and Nystrom Staff Present: Chris Leeseberg; Planner/Park Planner, Tonya Love; Recording Secretary Council Liaison: Council Member Gumphrey 1. Call MeetingTo Order Chair Polston-Hork called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. 2. Public Hearing: Woodland Trails Grant Application Chris Leeseberg, Planner/Parks Planner stated that the Ciry of Elk River is applying for three DNR administered grants to assist in purchasing 36 acres of land adjacent to Woodland Trails Park. Grant award is in summer 2006 and title closing is projected to take place in January of 2007. Total cost of project is $900,000. $300,000 from DNR • Remediation Fund Grant, $200,000 from DNR Scenic and Natural Areas Grant, $175,000 from DNR Metro Greenways Grant and $225,000 from City of Elk River Park Dedication Fund. Commissioner Anderson stated it would be a great addition to enhance the wildlife area and existing ski trails. Commissioner Anderson asked if the Elk River Country Club was a conceptual drawing. Mr. Leeseberg stated that it is conceptual drawing. Commissioner Niziolek stated he was in favor of the DNR Grant and shared that this was not the first time the Malmborg property was involved in expansion of Woodland Trails Park. The Ciry of Elk River applied for a DNR grant back in 1994. Chair Polston-Hork stated she was in favor of the applying for the grants. Olen Mike Dave Callahan; 18144 152"d St. Elk River stated he was in favor of the addition to Woodland Trails Park, it would be a great addition. Scott Schwabb; President of Elk River Country Club Board of Directors stated that the Country Club supports the grant application and purchase. • 4. Adjournment
