INFORMATION <br />t~.ver <br />MEMORANDUM <br />TO: Housing & Redevelopment Authority <br />FROM: Annie Deckert, Economic Development Assistant <br />DATE: March 2, 2009 <br />SUBJECT: Update on Housing Program Communications <br />In accordance with the HRA's goal to market resources for housing rehab, energy <br />efficiency and other programs, below is a summary of the current status of housing and <br />foreclosure initiatives taken on by the Community Development Department. <br />MN Home Ownership Center <br />• Distributed posters and flyers regarding free foreclosure prevention assistance and <br />resources to various businesses, organizations and churches in the community - <br />Ed Nelson, MNHOC presented information at October 8, 2008 HRA meeting. <br />Center for Energy & Environment (CEE) <br />• In October, the MN CEE completed a direct mailing of housing rehab programs <br />available to all single family households in Elk River. There will be an article <br />discussing the programs will be appearing in the next issue of The Current. <br />Housing Rehabilitation and Energy Efficiency Brochure <br />• Staff created and distributed a color pamphlet regarding all housing rehab and <br />energy efficiency programs available to Elk River residents. An article appeared in <br />the ERStar News in October, and this information also appears on the cable <br />channel. <br />City Partnership with Utilities <br />• The City and ERMU are working together to identify vacant homes by tracking <br />unpaid utility bills, inspecting vacant properties and monitoring sheriff sales data. <br />The Elk River Police are also monitoring and tracking unoccupied homes <br />throughout the City. <br />
