ver <br />MEMORANDUM <br />TO: Parks and Recreation Commission <br />FROM: Bill Maertz, Parks and Recreation <br />DATE: November 14, 2007 <br />SUBJECT: Directors Report <br />• YMCA Construction Update -Footings and concrete site work has been completed. <br />The parking lot will be paved the week of November 12. The building shell will <br />completed by the end of December. <br />• Library Grand Opening - An estimated 1000 people toured the new building on <br />October 13. Circulation has seen an increase since the new building opened. <br />• Activity Centex -Work is progressing on the old library buildings conversion to a <br />senior activity center. The center will have an exercise floor, pool tables, Internet <br />access, card playing area and coffee lounge. Estimated opening is December 15L. A <br />grand opening celebration will be held in spring of 2008. <br />• The purchase of the Malmstrom property was completed on November 1. <br />• Staff will give an update on the development of a trail maintenance plan. <br />• Youth Athletic Complex - At the September 10, 2007 City Council meeting staff <br />presented a phased plan for completing YAC. Council directed staff to move <br />forward and complete all the work in 2007. The project included irrigation, tree <br />planting, sod, trails, brick pavers around the concession stand and grading and <br />drainage improvements. The work is near substantial completion, and staff will <br />present images at the Commission meeting. <br />
