ver <br />MEMORANDUM <br />TO: Park and Recreation Commission <br />FROM: Bill Maertz, Parks and Recreation Director <br />DATE: May 9, 2007 <br />SUBJECT: Directors Report <br />• Update on the YMCA Project <br />Please find attached the site plan and preliminary elevations for the YMCA project. <br />The current plan includes a full size gymnasium. The memorandum of understanding <br />between the YMCA and the City of Elk River provides for Parks and Recreation <br />programming in the gymnasium. City allocated times are as follows: <br />8 hours per week between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm <br />8 hours per week between 3:00 pm and 9:00 pm <br />3 hours per weekend between Gam and noon <br />4 hours per weekend between noon and 8:00 pm <br />The current building plan contains separate restrooms for the gymnasium and an office <br />adjacent to the gymnasium, for city staff. <br />This building plan and city use schedule will allow Parks and Recreation staff to provide <br />multiple programs. Options being considered include open gym, intramural basketball, adult <br />volleyball, recess/gym time for home school families and league play for youth sports. A <br />YMCA membership will not be required for gym use during these programs. A small fee <br />may be charged to recover city staff costs. <br />ATTACHMENT: <br />YMCA site plan <br />YMCA preliminary elevation plans <br />
