fiver <br />MEMORANDUM <br />TO: Energy City Commission <br />FROM: Rebecca Haug, Environmental Administrator <br />DATE: October 9, 2007 <br />SUBJECT: April 19, 2008 Energy Expo Update <br />The Energy Expo Subcommittee has met twice since the last Energy City Commission <br />meeting and has accomplished quite a bit. The following is a list of some of items <br />discussed thus far in the planning: <br />• The Subcommittee decided to continue with the same theme as in 2007, "Let's <br />Make a Difference." <br />• The focal point for the Expo will be the library with tours and brief <br />presentations. <br />• The hope is to get Don Shelby to be the keynote speaker for this year's Expo. <br />• The Plan is to have 3 buses touringi~RRT, GRE and the Elk River Landfill. <br />• Hours of the Expo have been set for 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. to be held primarily <br />at the Fire Station. <br />• Two presentations other than the Keynote will be held: One in AM and One in <br />PM for adults on "How to save Energy in your Home". The presenters will be <br />the local utilities. <br />• There will be children's performances done by CLIMB Theater and Tricia and <br />the Toonies. Both have been reserved for the day of the expo. The plan is to <br />have these performances in the Council Chambers <br />• Elk River Ford will be displaying hybrid vehicles as well as the MN Corn <br />Grower's Association displaying E-85 vehicles. <br />• Fire Department has given permission to use the fire station for the exhibitors <br />and their lunch room for the caterer. Also, they will have a fire truck out for <br />people to see. <br />• A large tent will be set-up outside the fire station for the keynote speaker and <br />the adult presentations. <br />• John Exner, Sherburne County Zoning attended a Lion's Club meeting to see if <br />they would be interested in catering the event. He is still waiting for a response. <br />
