of
ver
MEMORANDUM
TO: Energy City Commissioners
FROM: Rebecca Haug, Environmental Administrator
DATE: January 14, 2009
SUBJECT: Meeting Reminder -January 21, 2009
This is to remind you of our upcoming meeting on Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at
1:30 p.m. in the Uppertown Conference Room at the Elk River City Hall. Please see the
attached agenda and minutes. Below is a brief update on Project Conserve and the Energy
Expo. Staff will provide more details at the meeting.
Project Conserve Update
The Project Conserve group is finishing up their blower door tests and the infrared analysis
will be starting soon. The next meetings for the group will be the end of January. The
participants still seem enthusiastic and some have expressed their amazement on how
making small changes can really save a lot of money.
Energy Expo Update
There are only six (6) confirmed exhibitors at this time so the Committee will be contacting
exhibitors. Sponsorship letters have been sent out but so far there have not been any
donations received. The city portion of the budget has been cut to $10,000 versus $15,000.
The Committee decided to forego having a Keynote Speaker unless they are free. The plan
is to have a podium and microphone in the gymnasium and have Mayor Klinzing give a
welcome and inform exhibitors and the public about the Children's performances, the award
ceremonies for the students and to enjoy the food provided by the Lion's Club. Rather than
having tours of facilities there will be an Energy City Demonstration Tour. A bus will
transport the public on a bus tour of Elk River driving by various demonstration sites. The
Committee will be asking the demonstration sites to provide a script of why they are
considered an Energy City demonstration site. The plan is to advertise the Energy Expo
with banners along Highway 10 and then through the local media.
If you have any questions or are unable to attend, please call me at (763) 635-1068. Thank
you and I look forward to seeing you on January 21, 2009!
