ITEM # 7. fiver MEMORANDUM TO: EDA Commission Members FROM: Jeremy Barnhart, Planning Manager DATE: January 12, 2008 SUBJECT: FAST Study update This memo should serne as an update on the status of the 171y~ Focused Area STudy (FAST), initiated by the EDA in December. A similar update will be provided monthly. Schedule The project is on schedule; HKGI is currently collecting baseline information in preparation for a Staff/ HKGI meeting this week Qanuary 15~). The timing goal remains to have a final plan submitted to the Council for approval at their meeting in early May. Between now and then, there will be contact between the City (staff and/or Commission) and HKGI every month. Future meetings Due to time conflicts with regular business of the EDA and City Council on the second Monday of the month, staff anticipates the joint EDA/ Planning Commission/ and City Council meetings to be held on the third Monday of each month, prior to the City Council meetings. These dates would be February 17~ (Tuesday), March 16~, and April 20~. With the workshop starting at 5:30 p.m., this should give the group an opportunity to complete the work before the regular City Council meeting. A schedule reflecting the new dates is attached. It will be necessary for each of these Commissions (EDA, PC, and CC) to establish a special meeting date via official motion. Communication The EDA expressed a desire to improve communication between the property owners and the City throughout the study, either by phone or by letter. HKGI will be preparing an informational newsletter, to be distributed by the City to all property owners inside, and within 350' of the study area. To stay within budget, this method was chosen.
