ITEM # 6. <br />of <br />ntver <br />MEMORANDUM <br />TO: Economic Development Authority <br />FROM: Scott Clark, Community Development Director ~~ <br />DATE: February 9, 2007 <br />SUBJECT: Request for Purchase of Portion of EDA Land Located on <br />County Road I <br />Attachments <br />• Aerial Map highlighting EDA property <br />Issue <br />Over the past several months, staff has been in discussions with representatives of Abiding <br />Savior Lutheran Church, who had expressed interest in purchasing or an exchange of land <br />between their church and the EDA property as shown on the aerial attachment. Several <br />weeks ago, the church's board met and has elected to discontinue any further negotiations. <br />However, the Ciry's Parks and Recreation Commission has expressed an interest in securing <br />this property from the EDA, and is of the opinion that it is valuable as passive open space <br />and a future pedestrian trail development, as highlighted on the attachment It would be <br />The Commission's intent to secure the property and place a trail development line item in <br />the 2008 Parks Capital Improvement Budget, with abuild-out potentially in 3-4 years, as <br />funds become available. <br />Recommendation <br />Staff recommends that the Economic Development Authority initiate the transfer of the <br />subject property to the Ciry for park purposes. <br />S:ACommunity Development\Scott Clark\2007 EDA memos\Co Rd 1 pack property.doe <br />
