I .C. <br />ver <br />MEMORANDUM <br />TO: Parks and Recreation Commission <br />FROM: Stephanie Albin, Recreation Coordinator <br />DATE: February 8, 2008 <br />SUBJECT: Major Park Use -Cold Bear Challenge Hillside Race Series <br />'Pugs Fest' <br />Request <br />A group of approximately 20 racers from the Minneapolis and St. Paul area are planning <br />to ride their bikes to Elk River and would like to camp out at Hillside City Park the night <br />before the Pug Fest'08 on February 17, 2008. <br />Brief Description of Series <br />Pug Fest '08 is a special off road bike race for Pusgley bike racers held in the winter. <br />This is the first year for this winter series of events at Hillside City Park. The uniqueness of <br />this event being held in the winter has drawn interest from The New York Times, in <br />which they are considering sending a reporter to attend. <br />Information for your consideration <br />• Pugs Fest is on Sunday, February 17, from 9 am to 6 pm <br />• The Parks and Recreation Department takes in and processes all of the event <br />registrations <br />• The group will be responsible for clean up after the event along with City Staff <br />• The event is expected to bring in several hundred spectators from both Minnesota <br />and Wisconsin <br />Attachments: <br />Outdoor Facility Use Application <br />Pug Fest Flyer <br />Staff seeking commission direction. <br />
