ORDINANCE 03-001 <br />CITY OF ELK RIVER <br /> <br /> AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ELK RIVER AMENDING <br />SECTION 2-212 OF THE CITY CODE OF ORDINANCES RELATING TO <br />HERITAGE PRESERVATION COMMISSION MEMBERSHIP <br /> <br />The City Council of the City of Elk River does hereby ordain as follows: <br /> <br /> Section 1. Section 2-212 titled, Membership; officers, of the City of Elk River <br />Code of Ordinances shall be amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 2-212. Membership; officers. <br /> <br />The heritage preservation commission shall consist of seven members appointed by the <br />city council for terms of three years. The last day for the term of office of each member <br />shall be the last day of February; however, all members may continue service until either <br />reappointed or replaced by the city council. A vacancy shall be filled by the city council <br />for the remainder of the term. The members of the heritage preservation commission, by <br />a majority vote, shall elect one of the appointed commissioners at the first meeting of the <br />year to serve as chair and one to serve as vice-chair. Commission members must be <br />persons with demonstrated interest or expertise in historic preservation. It is expected that <br />a preference be given to Elk River residents, but residency by itself shall not be a <br />disqualification. The heritage preservation commission shall include, if available, a <br />member of the Sherburne County Historical Society. <br /> <br />Section 2. That this ordinance shall take effect upon publication as provided by <br /> <br />law. <br /> <br />Passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of Elk River this l0th day of <br />February, 2003. <br /> <br />Stephanie A.
