RESOLUTION 03 - 08 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION FOR THE CITY OF ELK RIVER <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF THE CITY OF ELK RIVER <br /> CITIZEN CORPS COUNCIL <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />We have all experienced many changes as a nation since September 11, <br />2001 and we are now more aware of our vulnerability, more appreciative <br />of the freedoms we are protecting, and more understanding that we have <br />a personal responsibility for the safety of our families, our neighbors, and <br />our communities; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />In his State of the Union address, President Bush called on all Americans <br />to serve their qountry for the equivalent of two years of their lives - the <br />equivalent of 4,000 hours - to the service of others by answering the call <br />to strengthen and expand service opportunities to protect our homeland, <br />to support our communities, and to extend American compassion around <br />the world; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />By working closely with Elk River Emergency Management, Sherburne <br />County Emergency Management, Elk River Police, and Elk River EMS we <br />will be able to help our citizens respond to the President's call; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />We need to reach out to volunteers within our community; and to our <br />corporate citizens as well, in order to have a successful Elk River Citizen <br />Corps Council; and <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the Mayor and City Council establish the <br />City of Elk River Citizen Corp Council as an important contribution to our community and <br />its residents. Together we can make Elk River one of the safest communities in the State <br />of Minnesota. <br /> <br />Passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of Elk River this 27th day of January, <br />2003. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />Sandra A.
