The bids were <br />opened Thursday, April 12, 2001, at 10:00 a.m. There were a total of three bidders. The <br />following table provides a summary of the bidders and their total bids: <br /> <br />Schmidt Curb Co., Inc. <br />Glacial Ridge, Inc. <br />Environmental Assoc., Inc. <br /> <br />$209,943.80 <br /> 224,490.50 <br /> 240,744.00 <br /> <br />The Iow bid, submitted by Schmidt Curb Co., Inc., is approximately 20% below the estimated <br />construction cost contained in the feasibility study prepared in February 2001. It should be <br />noted, however, that this is a unit cost bid and some units, such as concrete curb and gutter <br />replacement, may over-run the bid amount, causing the final cost to be slightly higher. <br /> <br />Schmidt Curb Co., Inc. has previously successfully completed projects within the City of Elk <br />River. Therefore, we would recommend award to them as the lowest responsible bidder, in the <br />amount of $209,943.80. Attached is a resolution for the City Council's consideration which <br />awards the contract to Schmidt Curb Co., Inc. <br /> <br />If you have any questions regarding this project, I will be in attendance at next Monday's City <br />Council meeting. <br /> <br />Sincerely, <br /> <br />Howard R, Green Company <br />Terry J.
