West, Fire Chief ~~// "" <br />DATE: March 30, 1995 <br />SUBJECT: 1995 Siren purchase/relocation project <br />Duriug 1995, I will be purchasing two new #2001 sirens with the capability of a 5200 foot <br />range of coverage. The siren project will entail the relocation of the siren at Zane Street <br />NW and 202 Ave to a location near 221st and Johnson Street. One of the new sirens will <br />then be placed on a new pole at the location of Zane and 202nd. Avenue. <br />The second new siren will be placed on a new pole in the location south and west of the <br />present fairgrounds location on Orono Road. This new location will be located near the <br />new developments of Countryside Crossing. The old siren will be traded in as part of the <br />new siren purchase project. <br />• The project will entail the purchase of two new poles at a cost of $839.00 per pole. The <br />electrical hook-up of the three locations will be appro~dmately $800.00 per location. The <br />cost of the two new sirens, allowing for the trade in of the old siren is $18,753.02. The <br />proposed cost of the entire project using labor provided by Elk River Utilities will be <br />approxunately $22,831.02. <br />The Emergency Preparedness Budget allowed for the purchasing of two sirens at a cost of <br />$]0,000.00 each. There was no allowance for the installation and pole purchasing in the <br />budget. I will be receiving a second quote on the installation of the sirens from another <br />electrical contractor.
