Agenda Section Meeting Date Prepared by CONSENT Nicki Blake-Bradley, Environmental Technician Item Description Reviewed by Energy F,xpo Sponsors erem Barnhart, Plannin Mana er Reviewed by Lori ohnson, Ci Administrator Action Requested Acceptance of sponsorship pledges for the second Energy Expo to be held on April 19, 2008 at the City Hall Campus Background/Discussion In 2007, the first Energy Expo was offered at'Twin Lakes Elementary School and had over 700 people attend the event. The City of Elk River, Energy City Commission will be holding the second annual Energy Expo on April 19, 2008 at the City Hall Campus from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. The following items will be a part of the day's program: • Energy Innovations Contest displays by Spectrum High School students and award presentation • Presentation of Energy Enny's short film contest finalists by Spectrum High School smdents and award presentation • Exhibitors regarding sustainable and renewable energy technologies, including a hybrid vehicle in the Fire Hall • Speakers regarding resource conservation, energy saving tips and a presentation regarding a pIlot project named "Project Conserve" • Tours of the newest Energy City demonstration site, Elk River Public Library every half hour from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. • Bus tours of one of three Energy City Demonstration sites (GRE, RRT, and Methane to Energy Plant at Elk River Landfill) at 10:00 and 1:00 • Performances by Tricia and the Toonies and CLIMB Theatre fox children at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. • Display of Coloring Contest Finalists and presentation of first place winners • Catering by the Elk River ]_.ion's Club Financial Impact To provide this event to the public free of charge, sponsors have been solicited.
