MEMORANDUM TO: Mayor and City Council Housing & Redevelopment Authority FROM: Terry Maurer, Public Works Director DATE: April 14, 2008 SUBJECT: THIO and TH169 Geometric and Environmental Studies Representatives of MnDOT and their consultant, SRF Consulting Group, will be at tonight's workshop to discuss both TH10 and the TH169 studies. With the TH10 srudy, they will be providing the Council with two alternatives that they have developed, based on the constraints of the study area. The first will be an ex-pxessway design with signalized intersections; the second will be a freeway design with interchanges to access the highway. Both designs will have grade-separated roadways from the railroad. With xegaxd to the TH169 study, the outstanding issue is the intersection/interchange at Main Street. All other intersections have been previously reviewed with the City Council. The two alternatives that they will present at TH169 and Main Street axe the folded diamond and the single-point interchange. 'They have been "tweaked" based on comments received from the Council last time MnDOT and SRF were here. MnDOT and their consultant will be looking fox direction with xegaxd to what concept the Ciry Council would like to see move forward to layout and environmental documentation on TH10 and which interchange design the Council would like to see included ui the TH169 layout and environmental documentation. It is important that the Council give direction to MnDOT so that these two projects can not only stay on schedule, but more importantly stay on budget. Finally, it is important to note that the Sherburne County Board will also be invited to this meeting since TH 10 and '1'H 169 are important transportation corridors within Sherburne County.
