MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />* Item # <br /> <br />3.9.* <br /> <br />TO: <br /> <br />FROM: <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />Mayor and City Council <br /> <br />Sandra Peine, City Clerk <br /> <br />January 14, 2002 <br /> <br />Premises Permit Renewal for American Legion <br /> <br />REQUEST <br /> <br />The American Legion has requested to renew its premises permit to conduct charitable <br />gambling at the Legion. The permits will run for two years from 3/1/02 - 3/01/04. <br /> <br />APPLICANT <br /> <br />American Legion Post 112 - 525 Railroad Drive <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />The City's ordinance requires that 75% of the lawful purpose expenditures must be spent <br />within the City's trade area. The trade area for Elk River consists of cities of Elk River, <br />Ramsey, Otsego, Rogers, and Zimmerman. The attached chart shows that the amount of <br />expenditures spent in the trade area during the year 2000 was 92% and during the year 2001 <br />was 86%. <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED <br /> <br />Council motion adopting the attached resolution approving a premises permit for the <br />American Legion to conduct lawful charitable gambling at the Legion Post #112, 525 <br />Railroad Drive. <br /> <br /> <br />
