We are recommending that the city hire Douglas <br />Wellner to fill this position. <br /> <br />Mr. Wellner has completed all of the Building Inspection Technology courses offered at <br />North Hennepin Community College. He has worked as an intern for the City of Ham Lake <br />Building Department, where he was highly recommended. <br /> <br />Although Mr. Wellner's has never worked specifically in a construction trade, he has worked <br />~n estimating construction projects and the sale of construction materials for numerous <br />years. Staff believes he has learned his way around construction and has developed good <br />people skills through this experience. <br /> <br />Staff recommends the city hire Douglas Wellner for the position of Building <br />Inspector with the following stipulations: <br /> <br />Starting date April 22, 2002. <br />Pay grade 13, step A, which is $18.00/hour. <br />Orientation period ends October 22, 2002. <br />That he receives his Building Official Limited Certification within one year after the <br />date of hiring (by April 22, 2003) and full Building Official Certification within after <br />Limited Certification. <br />Cost of living increase in January 2003. <br />First step increase will be given when he receives his limited certification and his next <br />step increase after that will be July of 2004 (pending a satisfactory performance <br />reviews). <br /> <br /> <br />
