MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />Item # 3.6. <br /> <br />TO: <br /> <br />FROM: <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />Mayor and City Council <br /> <br />Lori Johnson, Finance Director <br /> <br />April 8, 2002 <br /> <br />Consider Hiring IT Coordinator <br /> <br />Assistant Police Chief Jeff Beahen and I interviewed the top six applicants for the Information <br />Technology Coordinator position. Each of these candidates met the minimum job <br />requirements, which include having a Bachelor's degree in a related field and three years of <br />LAN administration experience. Many of the candidates interviewed had over ten years of <br />LAN administration experience. <br /> <br />We are recommending that the City Council consider hiring Robert Pearson to fill this <br />position. Mr. Pearson is available to start within the next two weeks. Staff and Mr. Pearson <br />have agreed upon the following employment terms pending approval by the City Council: <br /> · Pay - Starting pay at step C, pay grade 4E ($51,731.65) with an <br /> increased to step D upon successful completion of a six-month <br /> orientation period (no additional cost of living increase will be given <br /> on January 1, 2003). <br /> · Sick Leave - Begin employment with 12 days of sick leave on the <br /> books with no additional sick leave to be earned during the first year of <br /> employment. <br /> · Vacation - Begin employment with two weeks of vacation leave on the <br /> books and accrue based on vacation schedule. <br /> <br />Action Requested <br />The City Council is asked to take action on two items: 1) Consider the Personnel Committee's <br />recommendation to place the Information Technology Coordinator position at pay grade 4E <br />and 2) Consider hiring Bob Pearson as Information Technology Coordinator with the terms <br />as noted above. <br /> <br /> <br />
