INFORMATION ONLY <br />fiver <br />MEMORANDUM <br />TO: Mayor and City Council <br />FROM: Terry Maurer, Public Works Director <br />DATE: April 7, 2008 <br />SUBJECT: March Downtown Parking Study Results <br />As directed by the City Council, I am presenting in an informational f ormat the results of the <br />March quarterly downtown parking study. The study was conducted on Tuesday, Wednesday <br />and Thursday, March 11 - 13. The following lists the attached figures and a brief <br />description of the information contained on them: <br />• Figure 1 A general layout of the 257 parking stalls surveyed on an hourly basis <br />(8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) for the three days of the study. <br />• Figures 2-4 Summaries of the parking occupancy rate broken down by 25% <br />increments. The results shown on these three figures are very <br />similar to the results f rom the first quarterly study conducted in <br />December 2007. <br />• Figures 5-7 Summary of the long-term parking (defined as the same car in a stall <br />for athree-hour period) for the three days of the study. Again, the <br />results from the March study is very similar to the December results. <br />• Figures 8&9 Graphic representation of the average occupancy rate and average <br />long-term parking rate for the three days of the study.
