Box 490 <br /> Elk River, MN 55330 <br />**ITEM 5.1c.** <br />RE: WESTERN AREA PHASE II IMPROVEMENTS <br />CHANGE ORDERS NO. 2 AND 3 <br />Dear Council Members: <br />CIVII ENGINEERING: <br />ENVIRONMENTAL Attached for your consideration are Change Orders No. 2 and 3 for the Western Area <br />uNIaPA~ Phase II improvements. Change Order No. 2 is a portion of the work that was <br />~LANNING previously discussed at the City's CIP meeting. This change order in the. amount of <br />sou~wASrE $380,872.96 consists of deleting trunk storm sewer on 183rd Avenue, constructing a <br />srRUCURA~ street on 183rd Avenue from Sandpiper Estates to Joplin, and building appropriate lateral <br />suRVE~iNG storm sewer in this area. It also includes the construction of street and utilities on <br />T~ar~!c Business Center Drive between Joplin Avenue and the Gagne property. The majority of <br />-RAVS~oRTAricN this work is necessary for the construction of the Country Crossing Townhomes project <br />and Country Crossing Business Center project.. Therefore, this is the work that will be <br />E~EC~RICauMEC"ANICA~ covered by a letter of credit from the Developer, Mr. Tony Emmerich, prior to <br />ENG~NEERiNG authorizing the Contractor to proceed. As you recall from our discussion at the CIP <br />"VAC meeting, there is also an additional portion of work that will be added which consists of <br />~owER olsrRiaurloN the widening of Joplin Avenue between Business Center Drive and TH 10. The purpose <br />scA°A of this additional widening and concrete median is to prepare this section of road for the <br />s~s~ EM coNrRO~s ultimate signalization of the TH 10 intersection. As I explained at our previous meeting, <br />we will not execute this change order until sometime after the first of July in an effort <br />to get MnDOT to participate in financing these street improvements. <br />The second attached change order, Change Order No. 3, is for the realignment of Orono <br />Road east of Joplin Avenue through the northwestern corner of the fairgrounds property. <br />In addition to the realignment of Orono Road, this change order also includes enough <br />bituminous surfacing. to overlay the existing Orono Road from Gary Street up to the new <br />construction.
