/ ~ <br />~lk Ri <br />Item 5.11 <br />MEMORANDUM <br />V~~ TO: Mayor & City Council <br />FROM: Gary Schmitz, Planning Assistant <br />DATE: May 8, 1995 <br />SUBJECT: Purchase of Administration Vehicle <br />Overview <br />On Apri125, 1995, the Elk River City Council authorized the expenditure of <br />funds to purchase a vehicle for city hall staff in the range of $10,000 to <br />$12,000. Both the existing administration cars are showing signs of aging. <br />The attached April 25 memo to the City Council outlines the need for a more <br />reliable vehicle for longer trips such as seminars and conferences. <br />The City of Elk River requested quotes from three local dealerships; Saxon <br />Motors, Elk River Ford/Chrysler, and Miller Chevrolet in Rogers. Attached is <br />a summary of the quotes received. Staff requested a quote on a used rental <br />return vehicle with under 25,000 miles and a new vehicle so that <br />comparisons could be made. The low quote for a used vehicle came from <br />Saxon Motors in the amount of $10,427 fora 1994 Chevy Corsica. This <br />vehicle has 20,700 miles. The low quote for a new vehicle was received from <br />Miller Chevrolet fora 1995 Chevy Corsica in the amount of $14,196. Both of <br />these quotes include tax, license, and destination charges. <br />Recommendation <br />Staff recommends the City Council approve the purchase of either the used <br />1994 Chevy Corsica from Saxon Motors in the amount of $10,427, or <br />purchase a new 1995 Chevy Corsica from Miller Chevrolet in the amount of <br />$14,196.
