**ITEM 5.2.** <br />RESOLUTION 95 - _ <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ELK RIVER <br />A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING SENATE FILE #757 <br />AND HOUSE FILE #750 (POW/MIA MEMORIAL HIGHWAY) <br />WHEREAS, Senate File #757 authored by Senator Don Samuelson, <br />District 12, and House File #750 authored by Representative <br />Kris Hasskamp, District 12A, propose legislation to honor <br />our Soldiers Missing in Action (MIA) and our Prisoners of <br />War (POW) by designating Highway 169 from Elk River to <br />Garrison and Highway 18 from Garrison to Brainerd as <br />"POW/MIA Memorial Highway"; and, <br />WHEREAS, this area would also be beautified through the volunteer <br />services of former Prisoners of War and their heirs under a <br />program augmented by the Minnesota Department of <br />Transportation to plant shrubs, trees, and flowers; and, <br />WHEREAS, the cost of road signs designating the route as a memorial <br />highway would be paid by the organization of American Ex <br />POW's. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Elk River City Council <br />supports Senate File #757 and House File #750. <br />Passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of Elk River this 13th day <br />of March, 1995. <br />Henry A.
