<br /> <br />REQUEST FOR ACTION <br /> <br />To <br />Ci Council <br />Agenda Section <br />Administration <br />Item Description <br />Consider Solicitor's License-Apx Alarm <br /> <br /> <br />Item Number <br />5.1. <br />Prepared by <br />Tina Allard, Ci Clerk <br />Reviewed by <br />Lori ohnson, Ci Administrator <br />Reviewed by <br /> <br />Action Requested <br />A) Approve solicitor's licenses to twenty-six applicants in Exhibit A from Apx Alarm in order to solicit <br />for security system sales door-to-door with the following conditions: <br /> <br />1. Only one (1) solicitor shall approach one residence and no solicitor can approach the same <br />door again unless invited back by the resident. <br />2. Hours are limited to Monday through Friday, 11 :00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. <br />3. Applicants shall carry the solicitor's license, a driver's license or state ID, and wear a company <br />photo ID proving employment with Apx Alarms while soliciting. <br />4. The license shall expire two weeks from the date the applicant wishes to begin soliciting door- <br />to-door. <br />5. Applicants can't knock on any door where there is a sign prohibiting solicitors. <br /> <br />Violation of any of these conditions will result in revocation of the individual's license. <br /> <br />B) Approve or deny Applicant A and B. <br /> <br />Background/Discussion <br /> <br />The Council continued this item from the June 18,2007 Council meeting in order for staff to prepare <br />more information on the following items: <br /> <br />1. Determine if Apx Alarm is a legitimate business and provide more information about the <br /> <br />company. <br /> <br />Apx Alarm is licensed in the following ways: <br />· MN Dept of Labor and Industry as a Technology Systems Contractor <br />· MN Secretary of State as a Foreign Corporation <br />· Utah Department of Commerce as a Domestic Corporation <br />· Member of the National Burglar and Fire Alarm Association (NBF AA), a trade association <br />· Member of the Better Business Bureau of Utah <br /> <br />S:\Council\City Clerk\ Transient\2007\Apx Alarm 070207.doc <br />
