REQUEST FOR ACTION To Ci Council Agenda Section Administration Item Description Consider Solicitor's License-Apx Alarm Item Number 5.1. Prepared by Tina Allard, Ci Clerk Reviewed by Lori ohnson, Ci Administrator Reviewed by Action Requested A) Approve solicitor's licenses to twenty-six applicants in Exhibit A from Apx Alarm in order to solicit for security system sales door-to-door with the following conditions: 1. Only one (1) solicitor shall approach one residence and no solicitor can approach the same door again unless invited back by the resident. 2. Hours are limited to Monday through Friday, 11 :00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. 3. Applicants shall carry the solicitor's license, a driver's license or state ID, and wear a company photo ID proving employment with Apx Alarms while soliciting. 4. The license shall expire two weeks from the date the applicant wishes to begin soliciting door- to-door. 5. Applicants can't knock on any door where there is a sign prohibiting solicitors. Violation of any of these conditions will result in revocation of the individual's license. B) Approve or deny Applicant A and B. Background/Discussion The Council continued this item from the June 18,2007 Council meeting in order for staff to prepare more information on the following items: 1. Determine if Apx Alarm is a legitimate business and provide more information about the company. Apx Alarm is licensed in the following ways: · MN Dept of Labor and Industry as a Technology Systems Contractor · MN Secretary of State as a Foreign Corporation · Utah Department of Commerce as a Domestic Corporation · Member of the National Burglar and Fire Alarm Association (NBF AA), a trade association · Member of the Better Business Bureau of Utah S:\Council\City Clerk\ Transient\2007\Apx Alarm 070207.doc
