<br /> <br />REQUEST FOR ACTION <br /> <br />To <br />Ci Council <br />Agenda Section <br />Consent <br />Item Description <br />Resolution Appointing Directors to the Sherburne/Wright <br />County Cable Communications Commission II for the <br />Administration of Cable Communications Systems <br /> <br />Meeting Date <br />Ma 14,2007 <br /> <br />Item Number <br />3.5* <br />Prepared by <br />Tina Allard, Ci Clerk <br />Reviewed by <br />Lori ohnson, Ci Administrator <br />Reviewed by <br /> <br />Action Requested <br />Motion adopting a resolution appointing directors to the Sherburne/Wright County Cable <br />Communications Commission II for the administration of cable communications systems. <br /> <br />Background/Discussion <br />The City of Elk River is part of the Sherburne/Wright County Cable Commission with ten other cities <br />and its purpose is as follows: to monitor the operation and activities of cable communications; to provide <br />coordination of administration and enforcement of the franchises; to promote the development of locally <br />produced cable programming; and to conduct other activities authorized by the joint powers agreement <br />to insure equitable and reasonable rates and service levels for citizens of the ten member cities. The <br />Commission meets about four times a year. <br /> <br />According to the joint powers agreement, whenever there is a change in directors for cities it needs to be <br />approved by resolution of the Council. Joan Schmidt represented Elk River but has since retired. <br /> <br />Furthermore, the last resolution I could find listed David Flannery as the alternate director for Elk River; <br />therefore, the resolution the Council is asked to adopt at tonight's meeting will update both appointments <br />to the Commission. <br /> <br />Financial Impact <br />N/A <br /> <br />Attachments <br />.
