Currently, Mn.DOT is soliciting candidate projects for the 2011 State
Transportation Improvement Program (STIP).
Digr-mminn
Bi]1 Maertz and I both feel it is appropriate to submit this grant application, given the investment
the City has made in the Great Northern Trail and surrounding park area south of CSAH 33 and
the recent investment in the underpass at CSAH 33 installed this year. In order to submit the
grant application to MnDOT, a resolution supporting the project and agreeing to maintain it must
be submitted by the sponsoring agency.
Financial Impact
As you are aware with these Federal Transportation Grants, the maximum funded by the grant is
80 percent with the local agency responsible for 20 percent. We anticipate that the project would
be in the $175,000 range, which would result in approximately $35,000 being funded by the City
of Elk River.
Attachments
A Resolution Supporting and Agreeing to Maintain Great Northern Trail Enhancement
Project
Action Requested
Adoption of the attached resolution for submittal with the SA.FETEA. -I...0 Grant Application.
Council Action Motion by Second by Vote
Follow Up
SAEngineer1.2007 CC memos\01 04 07 SA.FTEA -LU Crant.doe
