<br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />TO: <br /> <br />Parks and Recreation Commission <br /> <br />FROM: <br /> <br />Michele Bergh, Recreation Manager <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />August 4, 2006 <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />Staff Report <br /> <br />Hot Topic for the Month <br />The School District is reviewing their current flyer distribution policy and may decide to not <br />allow outside organizations to distribute flyers within the schools. We have written a letter <br />to the School Board asking for their support in continuing to allow us this privilege. <br />Without it, we would be challenged to get information to parents and their children. We will <br />share more information as it come up. <br /> <br />July Programs <br />We had many programs running this month. To highlight a few: <br /> <br />Stride, Glide, and Ride <br />· Over 140 people total participated. <br />· Feedback was very positive. <br />· Temperature was very high. <br /> <br />Tuesday Night Races <br />· Over 50 people participated in the first race. <br />· Over 40 people participated in the second race which took place when the <br />weather was over 90 degrees. <br />· This is a collaborative effort with the High School Cross Country Team. They <br />have volunteers working the events, providing equipment and treats. <br /> <br />Parade <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />The float theme this year was Pirates of the Caribbean. <br />Over 20 children from our Lion's Den Summer Day Camp program as well as <br />staff participated on the float. We even had a parent of a staff person dressed <br />up as Captain Jack. <br /> <br />. <br />
