ACH, CITY PLANNERfl?- <br />MARCH 28, 1994 <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />SUBJECT: DISCUSS CITY COUNCIL CITIZEN <br />APPOINTMENTS TO <br />COMPREHENSIVE PLAN STEERING <br />COMMITTEE <br /> <br />The composition of the Steering Committee includes one citizen <br />representative from each Ward within the City. These citizen <br />representatives may be selected by the respective City Council person to <br />serve on the Steering Committee. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />The City Council may want to discuss how the citizen appointments take <br />place. For example, if a Council member already has someone in mind that <br />would want to serve on this Committee, an appointment could be made at <br />this time. On the other hand, the Council may want to publish a brief article <br />in the local paper asking for those citizens who may be interested in serving <br />on a Steering Committee submit their name to be considered through a <br />selection process. <br /> <br />Since the Steering Committee's first meeting is scheduled for April 27, it is <br />not necessary that the City Council take action on this item tonight. <br />However, depending upon which process the City Council chooses to appoint <br />the citizen representatives, these appointments could be delayed until the <br />April 18 City Council meeting. This would still give staff the opportunity to <br />assemble the list of the Steering Committee members and provide <br />coordination for the April 27 Steering Committee meeting. <br /> <br />REQUESTED ACTION <br /> <br />1. Consider the appropriate process to appoint the citizen representative <br />to the Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee. <br /> <br />2. <br /> <br />Consider making the citizen appointment this evening or delay action <br />on this item until April 18, allowing additional time to consider <br />possible representatives. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />P.O.
