Although this is a budgeted expense in the 1994 budget, <br />staff must receive Council approval prior to attendance. The conference this year will <br />be held in Anchorage, Alaska. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />During my tenure as City Clerk, I have attended a few out-state conferences. I have <br />found these conferences to be very informative and beneficial to my job as City Clerk. <br /> <br />Because the City Clerk's profession differs greatly from community to community, the <br />IIMC national conferences offer a variety of speakers and wide range of educational <br />sessions ranging from office management to personnel issues. A sample of what is being <br />offered at this conference is as follows: <br /> <br />. "Personal and Professional Skills" including business writing; effective team work; <br />and public speaking <br />. "Government and the Office" including public access to municipal records; Rules of <br />Procedure for boards and councils; and an update on computers in government <br />. Harassment and Abuse: Current Law and Requirements <br />. Customer Service <br />. Interviewing and Hiring <br />. Ethics <br />. Election Laws <br /> <br />In conclusion, I am requesting Council authorization to attend the 1994 IIMC <br />conference. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />P.O.
