ACH, CITY PLANNER/~
FEBRUARY 7, 1994

FROM:

DATE:

SUBJECT: JOINT MEETING WITH PLANNING
COMMISSION, ITEMS 6.1- 6.4

At the Planning Commission workshop on January 22, the Commission
identified four discussion items for the joint meeting with the City Council.
Each one of these items will be elaborated upon at Monday night's meeting,
therefore, without going into a lot of detail, I will summarize each item:

6.1 The Planning Commission has established a list of goals for
1994. Obviously, updating the Comprehensive Plan is number
one on the list and will be the most in-depth effort in 1994.
Attached is a list of the eight goals the Commission has
established for 1994.

e

6.2 As mentioned above, updating the Comprehensive Plan will
be the primary project for 1994. The Commission has prepared
a draft memo (see attached) outlining their thoughts on the
process to update the Plan. At this point, the memo offers an
outline to begin discussions and receive Council input on the
process. However, it will need to be massaged to finalize the
issues, committees, and meeting schedule.

6.3 In 1990, the Planning Commission established a set of rules and
procedures. Each year thereafter, appropriate amendments
have been made and formally accepted by the Commission.
Attached is an amended version of the Rules and Procedures
based on the Commission's review and comments at their
January 22,1994, workshop meeting.

6.4 This last discussion item is an issue the Planning Commission
would like to participate in reviewing with the City Council to
determine the Capital Improvement's program consistency with
the Comprehensive Plan.

e

In conclusion, this is an overview of the items the Commission would like to
discuss with the City Council.

P.O.
