rl; ~(
( II
~lil River

ITEM 6.2.

FROM:

MAYOR & CITY COUNCIL
PHIL HALS, STREET/PARK SUPT~

TO:

DATE: JANUARY 20, 1994

SUBJECT: PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION
ACTION ON AREA WIDE RECREATION
FIELDS

There has been a growing concern over the condition of the
ballfields located on school district property which are used
by recreation associations during the summer months. This
discussion started with the Regional Recreation Board and has
come through the Park and Recreation Commission.

The recommendation of the Park and Recreation Commission is
that the City of Elk River and the School District split the
cost of $6,000 worth of ag-lime that is required to bring the
fields up to fair to good playing condition, and purchase six
home plates and six pitching rubbers worth a total of $500.

e

This donation from the City would be a one time effort with all
future supplies being paid for by the users, namely the School
District and the youth baseball and softball associations. The
Park and Recreation Commission did not identify any source of
funding for the $3,250 contribution. To my knowledge, the
School Board has yet to respond to this proposal.

e

P.O.
