ITEM 5.6.

TO: MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL

FROM: RUSS ANDERSON, FIRE CHIEF
DATE: MARCH 18, 1993

SUBJECT: OUTDOOR WARNING SIREN

I am requesting authorization to order an outdoor warning
siren. This siren is a 1993 budgeted item in the Equipment
Certificate budget. Staff recommends an electronic siren from
the Federal Signal Corporation which is the same make and model
as the last four sirens we have purchased. These sirens have
worked out well for the City.

Staff's intentions are to use the same installation companies
we have used in the p~st. The pole would be purchased from
U.P.A., installation of the pole and siren would be by Elk
River Municipal Utilities, and Plude Electric would do the
electrical work. The siren will be installed on Proctor Avenue
at the 19900 block.

.

With this purchase, the City will have a total of ten sirens
throughout the City. Attached are a copy of the quote and a
map showing where the sirens are located. If you have any
questions regarding this request, please call me at the Fire
Station at 441-2582Qr at home 441-1464.

.

720 Dodge Avenue N.W., Elk River, Minnesota 55330 (612) 441-7420
