Byron's term was to expire at
the end of 1993. The City Council advertised for this vacancy
on the Commission and received two applications. Attached for
your review are the applications from Sue Daleiden and Darryl
Branham. Both apPticants have confirmed that they could attend
the 3/22 City Council meeting for an interview with the
Council. Sue is scheduled for 6:40 p.m. and Darryl is
scheduled for 6:55 p.m.

Also attached for your review is the Park and Recreation
Commission roster and the Park and Recreation Commission
Ordinance. Chair Dave Anderson cannot attend this meeting, but
he indicat,ed that he would contact another Commission member to
sit in on the interviews in order to answer any questions from
the Councilor the applicants regarding Commission activities.

.

The Park and Recreation Commission meets the first Wednesday of
each month at 7:00 p.m., and generally meets for 3 to 3-1/2
hours. The Commission traditionally has taken two months or so
off in the summer so the Commission actually meets about ten
times each year.

Some relevant issues or questions to discuss with the
Commission applicants could relate to the following items:

.

- Why would you like to be a member or participant on the
Park and Recreation Commission?
- Do you use any of the City's parks or trails or
participate in any local recreation programs?
- What do you like best and about the Elk River parks and
trails. system? What do you like least?
- What do you like best about the Elk River recreation
programs? What do you like least?
- Have you ever attended a City Councilor Commission (Park
& Recreation or Planning) meeting?
- What do you think should be the Commission's relationship
with the residents and the City Council?
- Do you think the City should emphasize park land purchases
or development in the 1990's?..Which is most important to
you: neighborpood parks, regional/area wide parks, or
trails?
What major park and recreation goals should the City of
Elk River be working towards?
Are you familiar with the 728 Regional Recreation Program?

720 Dodge Avenue N.W., Elk River, Minnesota 55330 (612) 441-7420
