<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />INFOIl <br />I11A TION <br /> <br />3....... 0 :3/" 9~: <br /> <br />TO THE ELK RIVER MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL: <br /> <br />The Elk River Area Citizens League encourages the Mayor and <br />Councilmembers of The Ci ty of Elk River to examine the issue <br />of supporting a grant to salvage the old Sherburne County <br />Courthouse in the context of the downtown area as a whole. <br /> <br />As a grassroots ci tizen group, the Citizens League has had a <br />continuing concern with the downtown and its impact on the <br />entire community. We envision the old courthouse issue as <br />an opportunity to effect a win-win resolution to some <br />longstanding problems, including "the hole" on Main Street. <br />Working in consul tation and cooperation with the downtown <br />interests, and using a creative approach, the City Council <br />and Mayor might use this opportunity to begin generating <br />activity toward a revital ization of the entire downtown <br />ar'e.a. <br /> <br />We urge your careful <br />i :.sue. <br /> <br />comprehensive consideration of this <br /> <br />THE ELK RIVER AREA CITIZENS LEAGUE <br />
