Call Meeting To Order <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the meeting of the Elk River <br />Economic Development Authority was called to order at 6:50 p.m. by <br />President Gongoll. <br /> <br />Consider 1/18/94 EDA Agenda <br /> <br />Bill Rubin added the following item to the agenda: Item #2.1. <br />on MSA designation for Sherburne County <br /> <br />Update <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER DIETZ MOVED TO APPROVE <br />COMMISSIONER HOLMGREN SECONDED THE MOTION. <br /> <br />THE 1/18/94 EDA AGENDA. <br />THE MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br /> <br />2. Consider Loan Request from James and Marlene LaRose <br /> <br />Economic Development Coordinator, Bill Rubin explained that James and <br />Marlene LaRose have requested an EDA micro loan in the amount of <br />$25,000. James and Marlene LaRose are in the process of opening a <br />pizza and pasta restaurant on Freeport Avenue in Elk River called <br />Jimbob's Pizza and Pasta. The micro loan will be used by the <br />applicants to leverage primary financing and personal equity. <br /> <br />Bill Rubin informed the EDA that the Finance Committee reviewed the <br />request and unanimously voted to approve a $25,000 micro loan. Bill <br />Rubin also distributed a Commitment of lending from the primary lender. <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER HOLMGREN MOVED TO APPROVE A MICRO LOAN TO JA}ffiS AND <br />MARLENE LAROSE (JIMBOB'S PIZZA AND PASTA) IN THE AMOUNT OF $25,000. <br />COMMISSIONER FARBER SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> <br />2.1. Sherburne county MSA Designation <br /> <br />Bill Rubin explained that the MSA designation for Sherburne County has <br />been changed. He explained that the change removes Sherburne County <br />from the Twin Cities metro area. Bill Rubin explained that this is a <br />great disservice to Sherburne County residents as well as a detriment <br />to economic development in Elk River. He requested that the EDA send a <br />letter of appeal to this action to the OMB. <br /> <br />PRESIDENT GONGOLL MOVED TO SEND A LETTER OF APPEAL INDICATING THE EDA'S <br />DISAPPROVAL OF THE ACTION T~~N BY THE OMB AND REQUESTING THE OMB TO <br />
