<br />. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION 04-21 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION FOR THE CITY OF ELK RIVER <br /> <br />RESOLUTION APPOINTING A PRIVACY OFFICIAL AND ASSIGNING <br />DUTIES <br /> <br />WHEREAS regulations of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 <br />(HIPAA), 45 CFR 164.530 (a), require the City of Elk River appoint one person as the privacy <br />official. <br /> <br />· to coordinate the employee's policies and procedures under HIPAA's privacy <br />rules, <br />· to monitor and decide any issues that occur under the rules; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS the City Council of the City of Elk River shares concerns over privacy of health <br />data protected by the Act and wishes to comply with the requirements of the law. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the City Council of the City of Elk River, <br />Minnesota, hereby appoints the Finance Director as the privacy official. <br /> <br />Passed and adopted this 12th day of April 2004. <br />.
