Elk River <br />Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br />TO: <br />FROM: <br />ERMU Commission <br />Chris Sumstad — Electric Superintendent <br />MEETING DATE: <br />AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br />April 8, 2025 <br />6.1f <br />SUBJECT: <br />Staff Update <br />ACTION REQUESTED: <br />None <br />DISCUSSION: <br />• Installed 13 new residential services, which involves the connection of a secondary line <br />once the customer requests service. <br />• Joe Schmidt, Safety Instructor from Minnesota Municipal Utilities Association, held a <br />safety meeting on excavating and trenching and confined space hazard awareness on <br />March 26. <br />• The City's Fleet Maintenance Division is wrapping up our truck and trailer DOT <br />inspections for the year. <br />• Continue to dehydrate oil in our switchgear to reduce moisture. We have completed <br />over 20 and will continue with this process through April. <br />• Crews are performing equipment checks and thermal imaging of equipment out on our <br />system. <br />• GRE completed their maintenance and we switched the Waco substation online on <br />March 14. <br />• Crews installed the third transformer at Jonny Pops. The weather cooperated allowing <br />the bore crew to make short work installing the primary to the site. With the nice spring, <br />they will be starting soon on spring construction projects. <br />• Carr's Tree Service finished tree trimming with us on March 20. Road restrictions started <br />early making it harder for them to get around. Our crews will continue to trim into April. <br />• Inventory/procurement has taken delivery of our underground wire order for the year. <br />• 1 attended the American Public Power Association Rodeo and Engineering and <br />Operations Conference in Sacramento March 28-April 2. <br />Page 1 of 1 <br />223 <br />
