UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING
TO:FROM:
ERMU Commission Mike Tietz – Technical Services Superintendent
MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER:
March11, 2025 5.3
SUBJECT:
Advanced Metering Infrastructure Update
ACTION REQUESTED:
None
DISCUSSION:
As of March 4, Allegiant has completed 3,904 residential water meter replacements(corrected
number for February report is 3,693) and 491retrofits. Allegiant has reduced staffing to two
water technicians working on our project. Based on the current appointments, Allegiant will be
done at the end of March unless we can fill the schedule. The residential water meter exchange
work is approximately 88.3% complete.

To date we have made 71 residential repairs utilizing master plumber Karsten Nelson (Archer
Plumbing) with a running total of $25,010.36 in repair costs. This is about a 1.82% repair rate
based on the total number of installed water meters. In April 2024, the Commission voted to
absorb these residential costs at an estimate of $300 per job for approximately 100-150 homes,
totaling between $30-$45K.

Allegiant’s commercial meter subcontractor (Archer Plumbing) has completed 200 commercial
water meter replacements and 27 retrofits as of March 4. The commercial water meter
exchange work is about 37.5% complete.

As of March 4, Allegiant has completed 7,010 residential electric meter replacements. Allegiant
will have two technicians on the project until they complete the installations. The residential
electric meter exchange work is about 57% complete. Installations are being performed
Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
We received the remainder (2,116) of our 2S-200A residential electric meters on February 28.

I must note that there was a $75 adder for all commercial meters that was just recently
discovered that was not accounted for in the original bid pricing. This will add about $64,000 to
the overall electric project. ERMU staff will be utilized for all commercial installations.

Overall, approximately 71% of the total available AMI meters have been installed.
______________________________________________________________________________
Page 1 of 1
133
