~

MEETING MINUTES
~ September 11, 1984

I. The meeting was called to order by Mike O'Brien. Members present
were Darrell Mack, Rolfe Anderson and Stuart Lorenz.

II. Previous meeting's minutes were read and approved.

III. Treasurer's report was read and approved. Budget numbers will be
assigned to all activities. These numbers will be provided to
Community Education for budgeting purposes. The activity names will
also be changed to provide consistency.

IV. Dick Hales and Randy Recnicek of Youth Baseball attended the meeting
to request $500 for the 1984 program. The fund raiser left the pro-
gram with a $1000 loss. The United Way of Elk River provided $500.
Since the Board has a 1984 balance in excessof $500, a motion was

made and approved to approrriate $500 from the 1984 budget fer the
Youth Baseball program. Field mninten~nce has been a drain of re-
sources to the program. Dennis Carlson will be contacted to see if
some school resources might be available.

V. Rick Barakat has resigned from the Board. His employment responsibility
requires frequent travel and he cannot devote sufficient time to the
Board.

~ VI. A motion was made and approved to submit a 1985 budget of $19,050 to
the Council. The motion was approved. This amount does not include
any Senior Citizen funding. The Board is oppossed to the $5,000 re-
quest of which $3,800 was for administration costs. This position will
be communicated to Dennis Carlson. The Council will need to review this
matter at a budget meeting.

VII. The City Newsletter will be used for the future city recreation activity
brochures. This action will provide further separation of the Community
Education and City Proqrams. A questionnaire was discussed and will be pro-
vided to Bob for his use in a future Newsletter.

VIII. A list of all the current recreation programs and groups in Elk River was
distributed. These programs are typically self supporting, but the Board
and Council need to be aware of what future funding issues might arise.

There being no further business the meeting was adjourned. Next meeting
is tentatively October 9, 1984. This date is contingent on when the Coun-
cil will review the Board's 1985 budget request.

Mike O'Brien
Chairman

~
