<br /> <br /> <br /> <br />ELK RIVER PARK BOf{RD <br />CITY HALL <br /> <br />April 28, 1977 <br />7:30 P.M. <br /> <br />BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman Gene Schuldt, Stan Moreland, Steve Ostby. <br /> <br />BOARD MEMBERS ABSENT: Ken Nelson <br />RESIGNED: Bon Westerlund (as of 4/1/77) <br /> <br />GUREST: Marlon Glines (President), John Dietz (Secretary-Treasurer), Tim Thompson, and <br />Peggy LaPointe, representing Elk River Softball Association, <br /> <br />Meeting was devoted to general discussion on softball operation. Softball association <br />has made several improvements on Fairgrounds Field. New outfield fence will be finished <br />by this coming weekend. A new scoreboard has been provided. New bases, homeplates, <br />and limer purchased. Storage boxes for bases and limer will be made. Dick Burgoyne <br />leveled both infields. Sod will be trimmed along baselines. <br /> <br />Park Board is committed, from 1976, to pay for outfield fence posts and half the cost of <br />new limer. Fence posts will cost $456.00. Fairgrounds field has been named as Derr- <br />Gruepner Field, and softball association will have a dedication, <br /> <br />Permanent bleachers at fairgrounds field are in tough shape and may not last much longer. <br />Thebeek wall (facing street) has been painted by softball association. <br /> <br />Softball season will start on Tuesday, May 3rd. It will be necessary to have both infields <br />dragged and limed every day. Trash cans are needed at both fields. Softballers would <br />also like to have snow fence for outfield foul lines at fairgrounds field. <br /> <br />Park Board budget allows $1,000.00 for salaries and wages other than lifeguards. A <br />person will be hired for part-time work on the softball fields. Work time should <br />average two to three hours a day and rate of pay will be $2.50 per hour Duties will <br />include dragging the infields, liming the baselines, and general cleanup. Need for this <br />employment is immediate. Work can be performed any time during the day, but must be <br />completed by 6:00 P.M. for start of field usage. If worker cannot be found until after <br />school is out, city crew will have to perform daily maintenance until then. All applicants <br />will be submitted to Park Board for final approval. <br /> <br />Meeting adjourned 9:00 R~M~ <br /> <br />
