<br /> <br /> <br /> <br />ELK RIVER PARK BOARD <br />CITY HALL <br /> <br />January 25, 1977 at 7:30 PM. <br /> <br />BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman Gene Schuldt, Stan Moreland, Steve Ostby. <br /> <br />BOARD MEMBERS ABSENT: Ken Nel:;1on, Bob Westerlund. <br /> <br />TERMS OF OFFICE:, It was explained to Board members that present terms of office will <br />terminate when consolidation takes place. It is not known at this time how the new <br />Park Board will be set up. <br /> <br />PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT: Three new items of playground equipment were purchased in <br />December 1976 for Orono Park. Purchase was made from Trojan Playground Equipment <br />Co. in St. Cloud and invoice was paid from 1976 budget. <br /> <br />SKI TRAIL: Discussion held on possible recreational development of old dump area. Steve <br />Ostby suggested a ski trail for the area. He will check into feasibility and have <br />rough plan and proposal made. <br /> <br />POWER USAGE: Chairman Gene Schuldt reported that utilities office informed him power <br />is still being used in Orono Park and at the two softball fields. as an example, <br />from 11/14/76 to 12/14/76 800 kilowatts were used at the Fairgrounds Field, which cost <br />$26.57. Utilities office was instructed to disconnect all transformers, which accounts <br />for the usage. On Friday night, Jan 21st, a teacher's group will use Orono Park ballfield <br />and the lights for a mid-winter ball game. Meter will be read on Monday Jan. 24th and <br />cost of power will be paid by group. Person to contact is Barbara Roos, Lakeside Apart- <br />ments, 441-5274. <br /> <br />RECREATION AREAS: General discussion held on possible sites for future recreation areas. <br />In addition to old city dump grounds, the Bailey flood plain area and Ridgewood East <br />areas were discussed. Builder's plans for Ridgewood East include tennis 'courts, ball <br />fields, and a building to be constructed. If developers are having ;f'inancial problems, <br />they may be open for lease offer and have city build facilities. <br /> <br />Meeting adjourned 8:45 P.M. <br />
