The township \dll allocate money in March. <br /> <br />In Februar;}T, we \fill elect netV' board members and officers. There are <br />two openings from the city, to replace Wil Daniels and Sandy Fleming and one <br />opening from the tovmship to replace Don Putnam. Recommends should be sent <br />to ~Jally Fox or Frank Naf)sBi'1 for the to\-lrtship and the Hayor for ci tycandidates. <br /> <br />Linda Anderson reported on the recent gymnastic registration. There are <br />140 girls registered for classes. Les moved that we pay up to $150.00 to cover <br />the costs of the program. Lloyd seconded and the motion passed. <br /> <br />Ron BlITley;attended the Community Education meeting as our representative. <br />He was pleased \fith its progress. He said some activities vull be taken over <br />by Community Ed like comri1uni ty SHimming: but basically Cornrnun:i.ty Education <br />includes instructive activities. The Advisory Board members vull be recommending <br />programs for CommMnity Education. They request reco~nendations from the <br />Recreation Board also. <br /> <br />Jan Adamson, Chairman of the S~Qmming Pool Advisory Council, vull be <br />organizing S\'iimming pool trips in FebruaI"lJ and Harch to adjacent area pools <br />for community youth. <br /> <br />Don Strei reported that 24 boys went to Crystal Airport for instruction, <br />The Recreation Board sponsored these trips. The cost was $l~.OO per boy, paid <br />by the Recreation Board and $1.00 paid by each boy. From this experience,a <br />model ai~plane club v'TaS formed. Dave Barnett, a high school senior, \'laS <br />elected president. The club vmulct like a radio and are looking for Recreation <br />support and financial aid. Glenn Ertel suggested the elub contact other <br />interested people, organize the club vdth membership fees, etc. Then, come <br />to the Recreation Board with specific needs and costs. <br /> <br />The Recreation Board gave $300.00 to the ice arena for open skating during <br />the Christmas vacation. The board unanimously radified the expenditure. <br /> <br />Les Anderson, representing the Elk Pi vel' theater group, thanked the Board <br />for providing a bus for 30 - L~O peop1.e to the Guthrie Theater. Les asked if <br />the Board vlOuld provide another bus in Narch to the Guthrie. Glenn Ertel <br />moved we sponsor the trip. Jim Dingle seconded, the motion carried. A <br />children's theater trip this Spring was also suggested. Les said he would <br />ask the theater group if there \vas anyone interested in organizing this trip. <br /> <br />The horseback riding trips that the Board introduced last summer were!so <br />successful that Don Strei checked into the possibility of providing trips <br />during the year. Rockford Stables. has an indoor riding ring. The charge <br />
