Employees: Ken Nelson has reported that Larry Johnson is an excellant employee.
When park work permits it, Ken will also use him for work with the city maintenance crew.
For this purpose, Larry Johnson's wages will be supplemented from the street department
budget.

Joint Recreation Board Funding. A copy of the letter sent to the Park Board from the
Joint Recreation Board on April 12, 1976 was sent to the City clerks office. Believing
that letter to be a valid request for funds, the City Clerk issued a check for the full
$3,000.00, thus modifying the action taken by the Park Board on April 27, 1976. There
are no plans for recalling the extra one-thousand dollars paid, as the amount was provided
for in this years budget.

Boat Launching Site: An alternative to a poured concrete boat ramp may be possible.
Ken Nelson contacted Art Ericksen at Elk River Concrete regarding pre-formed concrete
slabs. There are some available which can be had for little or no cost. There is some
question as to when they will be available. Some grading of the site will still be
necessary, as will the need for base material.

Security Lights: There are two permanent light poles in the area by the swimming beach
parking lot. Utility Department has informed us they are usable but need to be connected
up. One additional security light will be needed near the boat launching ramp.

Notice to Softball Leagues: To date the Men's Slow Pitch League is the only one that
has submitted a roster of league officials and team managers. Representatives of the
Mens Fast Pitch League have been reminded. No contact has been made with Womens League.

Satellites:
Ball Park.

Two units are installed in Orono Park and two units installed at Fair grounds
They were delivered during the first week in May.

July 4th Park Use: The Bicentennial Committee is heading up the arrangements for July 9th
celebration in Orono Park. Mrs. Lawrence Elliot requested and was granted permission to use
the Orono Park softball field for an All Star game as part of the planned activities. No
other request has been made to use the field for that day.

Beer License: Marlon Glimes is in operation at the concession stand, including selling
beer. Provisions had been made for him to get an advance check from the City Clerk to
pay for the license. It is not known if he used that check or found some other source
of funds.

Fairgrounds Field Bleachers: It was reported by a city employee that the concrete blocks
on the permanent bleachers are starting to crumble. Jim Bredeck will check on bleachers
condition. If deterioration has started, consideration will have to be given to tearing
down the structure and replacing with other bleachers.

Lights at Fairgrounds Field: It was reported that quite a number of lights are burnt out
in the towers. Also:cthat all lights in one of the outfield towers are very dim. There
was general discussion on future possibility of having to replace some or all of the
light towers.

Swimming Beach: A letter has been sent to Wayne Becklin regarding his intention to operate
the lifeguard facilities at Orono Beach this summer~ Ken Nelson has be~n in touch with
