<br /> <br /> <br /> <br />,., <br /> <br />ELK RIVER PARK BOARD <br />CITY HAU, <br /> <br />October 30, 1975 at 7:00 PM. <br /> <br />MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman Gene Schuldt, Ken Nelson, Bob Westerlund. <br />MEMBERS ABSENT: Jim Bredeck, Stan Moreland. <br />GUESTS: None. <br /> <br />NEW BOARD MEMBER Stan Moreland's appointment as the fifth member of the Park Board was <br />approved by the City Council in October. Stan informed Chairman Schuldt that arrangements <br />could that arrangements with school officials to be allowed time off to <br />attend the montly meetings. At the time of request for this appointment Stan Moreland had <br />not been transferred to the evening shift at work. <br /> <br />PICNIC TABLES Nothing started on construction of picnic tables. Ken Nelson will build <br />them during the winter months as an inside project for his crew. <br /> <br />BOAT LAUNCHING SITE Ken Nelson reported that Mayor Cliff Lundberg had notified City Clerk <br />that the permit was set for revamping launching site. No word has been received directly <br />from the Councilor from D.N.R. inspector. Ken Nelson felt that it was now too late in <br />the season; that weather was now too unpredictable. It was a unanimous opinion that the <br />construction be delayed until Spring 1976. <br /> <br />SNOWFENCE PURCHASE. Ken Nelson reported that Menards in St. Cloud would not accept a city <br />voucher for fencing. They wanted cash or check. Ken will get a check from City Clerk to <br />make the purchase. Price of fence is $14.88 for a roll 4 ft. by 50 ft. <br /> <br />SOFTBAU, FENCES. Damaged backstop and fencing at Fairgrounds Field has been removed. New <br />fencing will be put up in Spring 1976. All fencing at Orono Park ha.s been leveled and <br />repaired. There is still a gap in centerfield gate to be adjusted. <br /> <br />STANDS AT FAIRGROUNDS FIELDS Back wall on bleachers at the Fairgounds Field has been fairly <br />well leveled off. There are holes in the wall that need to be filled. Bob Westerlund will <br />check with local cement contractor for estimate of filling and smoothing costs. Finshing <br />work and painting will be done in Spring 1976. <br /> <br />TIME FOR SOFTBAU, FIELDS. Fairgrounds Field has holes and low spots between limed area and <br />outfield grass. Ken Nelson will contact Larry Kreger for black dirt and sod work yet this <br />fall. Infields on both softball fields should be leveled and packed. <br /> <br />SWIMMING BEACH DIVING DOCK. There have been some inquiries for purchase of old diving dock <br />Notice will be put in the paper for bids. City Clerk'will be asked to prepare and place <br />the bid notice in the local newspaper. <br /> <br />ORONO PARK TOILETS Since City Council approved 1976 budget for Satillite units, the existing <br />concrete block structure in Orono Park will be torn down this Fall. Some of the materials <br />may be salvaged. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION ON FUTURE OF SWIMMING BEACH. Since the recent School Bond Issue was passed, was <br />passed, which included a swimming pool, there will have to be a future determination made <br />regarding present swimming beach, General discussion centered around closing the beach and <br />converting the area for general park use and retaining beach house for storage and use as <br />concession stand. <br />
