The Elk River Vision <br />A welcoming community with revolutionary and spirited resourcefulness, exceptional service, and community <br />engagement that encourages and inspires prosperity <br /> <br /> <br />Request for Action <br /> <br />To <br />City Council <br />Item Number <br />4.4 <br /> <br />Meeting Date <br />July 15, 2024 <br />Prepared By <br />Joe Stremcha, Business Services Director/Assistant <br />City Administrator <br /> <br />Item Description <br />Resolution 24-37: Great Northern Regional Trail <br />Legacy Grant <br />Reviewed by <br />Lori Stich <br />Cal Portner <br />Tina Allard <br /> <br />Action Requested <br />Adopt, by motion, Resolution 24-37 for support of the Grant for the Northern Trail Legacy Grant application. <br /> <br />Background/Discussion <br />The Parks and Recreation Commission discussed priorities to be included in the Great Northern Regional <br />Trail grant application during their Work Session on June 12, 2024, and regular meeting on July 10, 2024. <br />Sherburne County Parks Director Gina Hugo presented a list of amenities to be included in the project and <br />the commission voted unanimously in support of this project. <br /> <br />The project scope for the grant application will include the following amenities in Elk River: <br />▪ A bike repair station is to be located near the south end of the trail near Meadowvale Elementary <br />School. <br />▪ A bike repair station and bench with a concrete pad located in Woodland Trails Regional Park. <br />▪ A bench with concrete and a portable screen with a concrete pad for the porta potty located at CR <br />33 and Watson. <br />▪ A Great Northern Regional Trail trailhead sign with Hi-Viz ADA width limiter gates and a bench with <br />a concrete pad located at the 221st Avenue parking lot. <br /> <br /> <br />Financial Impact <br />If awarded for the grant, $31,973.33 will be budgeted through Park Improvement and Park Dedication Funds <br />in 2027 based on the projects included in the grant application. <br /> <br />Mission/Policy/Goal <br />Opportuntiy to live, work, and play <br /> <br />Attachments <br />1.
