�i <br />Elk River --�- <br />Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br />TO: <br />FROM: <br />ERMU Commission <br />Mark Hanson — General Manager <br />MEETING DATE: <br />AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br />January 14, 2025 <br />6.1a <br />SUBJECT: <br />Staff Update <br />ACTION REQUESTED: <br />None <br />DISCUSSION: <br />• The City Council approved the Minnesota Municipal Power Agency's Amendment regarding <br />weighted voting via the consent agenda at their December 16, 2024, meeting. They also <br />approved Resolution 24-81 Voter Referendum Required for Utility Disposition. The Star <br />News did a nice recap of the referendum presentation/discussion in their Saturday, January <br />4, edition. A link to the online version of the article can be found Ihr irr. <br />• We have been working with the City on our 2025 Minnesota Municipal Utility Association's <br />(MMUA) Safety Management Agreement. We currently split the administrative costs 50/50. <br />The City has informed us they will likely use a different training provider for 2025. Going <br />solo with MMUA will increase our safety training fees by approximately $8,500. <br />• The Minnesota Municipal Power Agency (MMPA) Board of Directors met December 17, <br />2024, at Chaska City Hall in Chaska, Minnesota and via videoconference. Commissioner <br />Stewart attended (I was out sick). The public summary follows: <br />• The Board reviewed the Agency's financial and operating performance for <br />November 2024. <br />• Clean Energy Choice program participation increased from 5.9% to 6.0%. <br />• The Board approved rates for 2025, which are the same as 2024 rates. <br />• The Board discussed the status of renewable projects the Agency is pursuing. <br />• Robert Striker has been engaged as MMPA's general counsel. Mr. Striker performed <br />legal services for MMPA while at Stinson LLP and has substantial experience in <br />MMPA matters. <br />• The following officers were elected for 2025: <br />o Chairman - Matt Podhradsky <br />o Vice Chairman- Keith Mykleseth <br />o Treasurer - Greg Drent <br />o Secretary- Mark Hanson <br />Page 1 of 1 <br />76 <br />
