<br />. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />ELK RIVER PARK BOARD MEE..'TING <br />HELD IN THE VILLAGE OFFICE BUILDING <br /> <br />August 30, 1972 at 7:30 pm. <br /> <br />BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman Les Derr, Bob otto, Duane Becklin, Gene Schuldt, Bob Syring <br /> <br />GUESTS PRESENT: Chamber of Commerce Ken Parker and Joe Pallansch; Jaycees LYnn Moore, <br />Cliff Lundberg and Stan Moreland; Elk River.Town Board Frank Madsen; Lakeshore Owners <br />Association Dwayne Jensen. <br /> <br />SUMMER RECREATION REPORT: Chairman Les Derr read a report on the Summer Recreation Program <br />submitted by John Dietz, Program Director. General discussion held on recreation program <br />and future possibilities of land acquisition. <br /> <br />SWIMMING PROGRAM: Chairman Les Derr reported that over 300 children were in the swimming <br />program and that over $1100. in registTation was taken in. <br /> <br />PARK SHELTER: Village Council granted Jaycees permission to build. park shelter three years <br />ago, and rene~ed permission this summer. Lynn Moore presented description of structure and <br />construction plans. Proposed location was pointed out on map and Park Board will check <br />sites and decide wihich will be used. Bob Syring reported on complaints to Village Council <br />regarding lake use, and stated that Council has no authority over lake regulation. General <br />difcussion held on boating' and swimming problems. <br /> <br />Bob Syring presented report on powerbhouse dam inspection held during low~water period by <br />utilities department. Approximately $100,000. is needed for repairs and powereompany <br />is not responsible because it is no longer used as a power source. <br /> <br />SUMMER BASEBALL PROGRAM: Gene Schuldt reported that Jaycees are willing to establish <br />Summer Baseball Program for next year 1973. Jaycees reporesentative to be pres~nt at <br />next meeting for further discussion. <br /> <br />Next Meeting scheduled for NOVEMBER 15th 1972 at 7:30 pm. in the Elk River Village Office. <br /> <br />No further business, the meeting adjourned. <br />
