Meeting of the Beautification and Public <br />Art Committee <br />Held at the Rivers Edge Commons <br />c'`'' I Monday, July 15, 2024 <br />Elk _ <br />River <br />Members Present: Committee Member Deb Hjermstad, Committee Member Melissa McAlpine, <br />Councilmember Jennifer Wagner, Committee Member Ryan Hardin, Committee <br />Member Nic Hahn <br />Members Absent Commissioner Dan Tveite <br />Staff' Present Economic Development Specialist Josh Mollan, Senior Multimedia Specialist Jake <br />Pace <br />Others Present Public Artist Carey Dean, Elk River Star News Editor Jim Boyle <br />I. CALL MEETING TO ORDER <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the meeting was called to order at 3:32 PM by Josh. <br />2. INTRODUCTIONS <br />All attendees introduced themselves. <br />3. CONSIDER AGENDA <br />Moved by Ryan and seconded by Melissa to approve the agenda. Motion Carried 5-0. <br />4. CONSIDER MINUTES <br />4.1 June 17, 2024, Meeting Minutes <br />Moved by Ryan and seconded by Jennifer to approve the June 17, 2024 meeting <br />minutes. Motion Carried 5-0. <br />5. GENERAL BUSINESS <br />5.1 Public Art Project <br />Carey shared details on a similar project she completed in Brookings South Dakota as well as showing <br />materials used in the piece. <br />Josh shared that the wall near the restrooms at FT Center will be the optimal location for the piece. <br />The piece will be slightly smaller than proposed to fit on the desired wall. <br />Nic shared that she will work to get students involved closer to installation and school is back in <br />session. <br />
